Description
About MOLYKOTE® PD-910 Anti-Friction Coating
OVERVIEW:
MOLYKOTE® PD-910 is a dry film lubricant (also known as an anti-friction coating) designed to reduce friction and wear on a wide range of metal surfaces. It forms a solid, lubricating film after curing, providing long-lasting performance even under high loads and in harsh environments. PD-910 is formulated with a high-performance binder system and solid lubricants such as molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂), making it suitable for applications where conventional greases or oils may be impractical.
KEY FEATURES:
Dry Lubrication
Forms a dry, solid lubricating film that provides reliable performance without the need for wet lubrication.
Excellent Wear Protection
Reduces friction and wear under high loads and sliding conditions, supporting extended component life.
Wide Operating Temperature Range
Performs effectively across a typical service temperature range of -180°C to +450°C, making it suitable for extreme temperature environments.
Resistance to Contaminants
Dry film helps resist dust and dirt accumulation, supporting use in environments where cleanliness is critical.
Good Adhesion to Metal Surfaces
Provides strong adhesion to properly prepared metal substrates, ensuring long-term durability of the lubricating film.
APPLICATIONS:
-
Automotive Components – Applied to gears, cams, pins, and sliding components requiring reliable dry lubrication.
-
Industrial Machinery – Used on heavily loaded or slow-moving components such as chains, guides, and couplings.
-
Aerospace and Defense – Suitable for components exposed to high loads and wide temperature variations.
-
Metal Forming – Applied as a boundary lubricant for metal forming operations and tools.
-
Maintenance Applications – Used in equipment where re-lubrication is difficult or where oil/grease-based lubricants are unsuitable.
PACKAGING:
MOLYKOTE® PD-910 is typically supplied in liquid form, available in containers such as 1kg cans or larger packaging depending on application needs and regional availability.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
-
Surface Preparation: Clean and degrease the surface thoroughly to remove oils, dust, and other contaminants. For best results, perform surface roughening (such as grit blasting) to improve adhesion.
-
Application: Apply PD-910 by spraying, dipping, or brushing in a thin, even layer. Allow to air dry, then cure according to the product’s recommended curing schedule (typically with heat curing to ensure full performance).
-
Reapplication: Reapply as needed depending on wear and operating conditions.
SAFETY AND HANDLING:
MOLYKOTE® PD-910 contains organic solvents and should be used in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as gloves and goggles. Keep away from open flames and sources of ignition. Refer to the product’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for complete safety, handling, and disposal information.
DISCLAIMER:
The information provided is intended for general reference only. Actual product performance may vary depending on materials used, surface preparation, application methods, and operating conditions.
